With his trusty Warp Star, Kirby sets out to defeat Dark Matter, accompanied by his new Animal Friends. With the help of three friends, Kirby sets out on his latest quest to save Dream Land. The rainbows that connect the islands have been stolen by the evil Dark Matter! Dark Matter has taken control of King Dedede and wants to turn Dream Land into a dark world. Stage 3 has a similar place, which is almost the same, but in reverse and it does not close this room off.Kirby lives in the rainbow islands of Dream Land. In the second part of Stage 6, Dark Castle, the screen moves to the left. The title was removed completely in the international versions. In the Japanese version, the game's title appears at the top of the Super Game Boy border. The screens that appear upon completing the Boss Endurance and Bonus sub-games also have Chao replaced with the female Gooey. Besides the aforementioned character replacement, Gooey was added to the international builds. The sound test (another reference to Yūyūki) was changed as well. While Gooey restores a piece of your life bar, collecting either special character above gets both an extra life and 1% toward your completion percentage. Oddly, Chao would later appear in all versions of Kirby's Dream Land 3. Since that game was never released overseas, she was replaced with a female version of Gooey. In the Japanese version, this is Chao, a character from the game Yūyūki. Occasionally, when a friend bag is opened, a different character appears instead of Gooey. In addition to a different SGB palette, the international versions has a dancing Kirby that doesn't appear in the Japanese game.
